Miyako Ishiuchi - Photographs 1976 – 2005, 2006

Currently, we don't have the book in stock. The print of this special edition is however still available.
Print: Size 28 x 36 cm, signed, dated, numbered and titled, edition of 15

ABOUT THE WORK
This book was published in 2008 to accompany the first retrospective exhibition of Miyako Ishiuchi in Europe. It includes the limited edition print Innocence, signed, dated and numbered by the artist. The exhibition was organised and produced by Langhans Gallery in Prague and curated by Machiel Botman.

The book is designed as a leporello ‘folding out’ book of 70 pages. On one side of the leporello there are photographs from Ishiuchi’s early book trilogy from the late seventies: Apartment, Yokosuka Story and Endless Night. On the other side of the book there are images from her later and more recent works, including 1.9.4.7, 1906, Skin and Mother’s. This beautifully printed catalogue shows the work of Miyako Ishiuchi from her beginnings in 1976 to 2005.

The print representing a woman’s hand is part of her work concentrated on women’s hands and feet. The exclusion of faces and surroundings show that Ishuiuchi wishes to come closer to essence. The hands imply communication, or burden and there is something simply beautiful about them.
