A surprising theme for most, yet this issue has successfully brought together work that expresses a cheerful lust for life, marked by a silent enjoyment or attesting to an infectious non-conformism. Exploring happiness and its relationship with photography in this issue, there remains a distinct complexity as with any other theme. Undertaking this task of exploration are eight portfolios that are as diverse and surprising as ever, evoking the very sentiment and joyous feeling they were made with.
Also included, an extensive interview with Jeff Wall, discussing his relationship to the complex nature of photography, the inspiration he draws from and the need to struggle with the constrains of photography. Plus an ‘On My Mind’ feature from 6 cultural figures talking about images on their minds and plenty of book reviews.
