ABOUT THE PRINT
In her work Andrea Grützner focuses on public spaces and architecture. For "das Eck" (the corner) she explored the city of Koblenz with her camera, directing viewers' eyes off the beaten track and to the graphic structure of the urban surroundings. Grützner's image details - painterly, abstract and surreal - have little to do with our views of the city as we perceive it on a day-to-day basis. They open up new perspectives on German postwar architecture and on historical artifacts. Grützner uses her camera to deconstruct functional spaces, unsettling the viewer while presenting us with conundrums of reality.
