ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Geert Goiris (b. 1971) occupies a unique position in the field of contemporary photography. He creates powerful images of sublime landscapes, modernist architecture and mysterious portraits of strange, unreal beauty where time and space seems to be suspended. The tension between fact and fiction generates stories, associations and suspense. And yet everything that Goiris photographs is real. His work has been exhibited at Jeu de Paume (Paris, FR), FoMu (Antwerp, BE), Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago, USA) and Foam among many others. His work is also part of several collections like Centre National des Arts Plastiques – CNAP, Paris (FR), MoCP, Chicago (US), Fonds National d’Art Contemporain (FR), FRAC Réunion (FR), Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (FR), Centro de Arte Contemporaneo de Burgos (ES), La Salle Bank Photography Collection, Chicago (USA), ING, Brussels (BE), Fotomuseum, Antwerp (BE), University Hospital, Jette (BE), Williams College Museum of Art (US).
