ABOUT THE WORK
Pomegranate Orange is a a black and white still life. The way in which the orange is half peeled and displayed is reminiscent of a painted still life of the Dutch Golden Age.
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
With a background in Art History, Philippe Vogelenzang applied for the photography department of The Royal Academy of Arts (KABK) in The Hague. After one year he decided to develop himself further as an autodidact. From that point, Vogelenzang developed a simplistic and honest style, resulting in images that often have a classic quality. Driven by imagination, curiosity, and intuition, Vogelenzang aims to capture a crude presence or intensity in the people and objects he photographs. His images are vibrant, suggestive and playful, all photographed in an aesthetic way and with a strong sense of fashion.
Philippe Vogelenzang's work has been published in Vogue (NL), V Magazine, VMan, Vogue Hommes International, L'Uomo Vogue, Candy, Scotch & Soda, Dsection, ZOO and L'Officiel Hommes and exhibited at the Amsterdam Museum and Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam. Foam Editions is the first galerie where work of the artist is on view.
