ABOUT THE WORK
The work of WassinkLundgren develops itself from small observations and humoristic twists of situations from daily life. The starting point is always a social interest in the world surrounding them, but just as interesting to them is how the medium photography can deform reality. In the series Tokyo Tokyo WassinkLundgren undermine in a playful way a few unwritten rules of the medium: the decisive moment is not approached seriously but rather in a light-hearted way. Their approach could be called ‘conceptual documentary’, where repetition, playfulness and research of the medium photography are all important.

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHERS
The duo WassinkLundgren consists of Thijs Groot Wassink (b. 1981) and Ruben Lundgren (b. 1983). Both studied at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht in 2005. During the last year of their education they decided to present themselves as a duo. Then Wassink completed his Master Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins in London and Ruben Lundgren got his Master in Photography at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Peking. The duo takes part in several group- and solo exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad. Their solo-exhibition One Group Show was on show in 2013 at Foam. WassinkLundgren is represented in the Netherlands and abroad by Van Zoetendaal Collections and Pékin Fine Arts. They work and live in London and Beijing.
