The first issue devoted entirely to Talent, this issue was formed with the help of ten nominators from a variety of countries who specialize in the photographic field, such as Alejandro Castellanos Cadena (director of the Centro de la Imagen), Charlotte Cotton (curator of photography at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art), Adriaan Monshouwer (commercial director of Hollandse Hoogte) plus Simon Njami (freelance curator and artistic director of Rencontres Africaines de la Photographie in Bamako, Mali).
As well as the six photographers the Foam Magazine editors selected, each nominator put forward ten young talents they also felt were at the start of brilliant careers that will help to define the future of photography.
Also included, an extensive interview with Mikhael Subotzky discussing the stories behind his photographs, his work in general and the issues of working for institutions. Taryn Simon discusses her projects, their reception and the motivation behind her work. Plus an ‘On My Mind’ feature from 6 cultural figures talking about images on their minds and plenty of book reviews.
