Foam Magazine #14: Meanwhile

This issue presents six portfolios by six photographers whose work serves to counteract the hectic pace and affairs of modern life. Showcasing processes that escape the limelight, with work that develops its own tempo, duration and reach, often demanding a different kind of attention in order to be experienced and appreciated.

Accompanying her two daughters and their friends, Thekla Ehling cautiously used this familiar relationship to explore the inner and outer spheres of their experience in Sommerherz, ultimately facing images of her own childhood. Maso Yamamoto demonstrates that everything in the world has a special place in project Nakazora, presenting careful arrangement of unframed photos.

Also included, an extensive interview with New York Times Magazine picture editor Kathy Ryan, discussing curating the New York Photo Festival and the choice of photographers featured. Plus an ‘On My Mind’ feature from 6 cultural figures talking about images on their minds and plenty of book reviews.
