ABOUT THE WORK
The series Polaroid Lunagrams consists of contact prints of old magic lantern glass plates made on polaroid paper by means of moonlight. Österholm used glass negatives of the phases of the moon made by his great-grandfather in the 1920s and 1930s. He went in search of the darkest places in the area and found them along the coast, in the countryside, and in national parks where electric light is forbidden. For him this search for darkness was also a personal ritual in which he sought contact with the moon.
The original Polaroid Lunagram (Moonrise) is part of the Back to the Future exhibition that is on display at Foam until the 28th of March 2018.
