ABOUT THIS WORK
The two works are part of Snorre Petlund's graduation series. They are part of an investigation into his past, his family and his childhood memories.
To tell his story, Petlund often places his images in a grid. The repetition of similar images forces the viewer to look for the differences and the common denominator. The result is not a comic strip, but rather a graphic or almost encyclopaedic image of a very personal nature.
In this grid we see parts of the face of his sister, mother and grandmother, but also of himself. He zooms in on ears, eyes, mouths and hair. Does he see similarities in his appearance with that of the women of his family? For the presentation at the academy, he edited the collection of photos and physically added another layer. The traces of this can be seen in the digital version of this work.
