Joan Fontcuberta presents the large array of wondrous phenomena practised and taught by fictitious convent community of Karelia. Monumental fold out panoramas by Hans van der Meer focus on images that everyone knows and recognises, namely the archetypical image of the American western. Young Mexican photographer Daniel Rossell portrays the bizarre environment of the mega rich Mexican elite, producing an extraordinary photographic and anthropological document in which the real is barely distinguishable from the fake.
Plus the work of Germaine Kruip, whose archival image combinations introduce each portfolio. Fascinated by the phenomenon of staging within reality, Kruip affords an insight into the way images quote and presuppose other images.
