About the work
In conjunction with works from her series Untitled, Foam Editions also presents images from The Drawer series. Unlike her earlier work, like the project Control, it is not documentary. Instead it is poetic and intuitive. For these images she used films of which one cannot know what the result will be before it is printed. ‘Control is an important theme in my work. Or specifically the lack of control. For me the small mistakes in an image make a photo perfect. The perfection of imperfection. Always a surprise and ultimately without any control. Just as in life.’ - Emilie Hudig

About the photographer
Emilie Hudig (b. 1973) studied Cultural Anthropology and Media and Culture at the University of Amsterdam. After her studies at the Amsterdam Fotoacademie in 2007 she exhibited her project Control at Foam 3H. In 2009 Hudig won the Zilveren Camera photo story of the year with her book Controle. Untitled is the second large personal project of Hudig. It was exhibited at Museum van Loon in September 2012.
In 2019 she showed the series Verborgen groen, de Hortus Conclusus, about the secret gardens of the canal houses in Amsterdam, in the Stadsarchief in Amsterdam.
In addition to her personal projects Hudig also works on commissions for clients and magazines.
