About the work
This photograph is part of the series A’DAM DOC’k that Raimond Wouda worked on with photographer Henk Wildschut between 2001 and 2006. A’DAM DOC’k gives both a distant and intimate view on the port of Amsterdam. Wildschut has taken intimate portraits of the workers during their moments of rest or while they were in the locker rooms. Wouda photographed three prominent companies seated in the harbour and shows through a topographical view how he reached the harbour through the North Sea Canal from the sea to the centre of Amsterdam.

About the photographer 
Raimond Wouda (b. 1964) is interested in the relationship between people and their surroundings, as shown in his photos by his careful choice of viewpoint, often from unexpected positions.
Wouda studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. He has shown his work in many institutions, including Chiesa San Paolo, Modena (2005), Institut Neérlandais, Paris / Foam Fotografiemuseum, Amsterdam (2003), Museum of Photography, The Hague (2003), Museum of Photography, The Hague (2002) and Rotterdam (2001).

A solo exhibition of his latest series School was on display at Foam in 2007. His work has been included in several books and catalogues, including Dag Osdorp (De Verbeelding, Amsterdam), Histoire(s) Parallele(s)/Confrontations (Filigranes Editions, Paris) and Fotografen in Nederland (Ludion). With Henk Wildschut he photographed the Indian tanker Sandrien, published as the book Sandrien (By The Way, 2003), and more recently (also with Henk Wildschut) Wouda published the book A'DAM DOC’k (By The Way, 2007), with photos of the Amsterdam harbour.

About buying this work
This photo print has a small white border around all sides. For a framer this border is necessary to be able to frame it properly. The print will be carefully wrapped and send as an insured package.
